PhD Research

I am currently undertaking a PhD by practice, supervised by Liz Wells at the University of Plymouth to investigate my adaptation methodologies and the relationship between literary interpretations and self-portraiture. For my research project, T. S Eliot's poem 'The Waste Land' was chosen as an explorative text and framework with which to obtain new insights into the visual translation process. The research will also consider issues surrounding the autobiographical and visual representations of femininity, in terms of inscribing the self within the work and will examine the implications of reinterpreting the text from a personal perspective.
